Atlanta ECPN visits the Georgia Archives

Yesterday the Atlanta Chapter of ECPN (Emerging Conservation Professionals Network) conducted our first lab tour at the Georgia Archives! This was very convenient for me as I am currently an intern there, working under conservator Kim Norman. Kim showed everyone around behind the scenes at the Archives as well as the research areas open to the public. And of course they got to visit the big, beautiful conservation lab, where you can see everyone in the photo below. In front of us is a 17th century Torah made of deerskin that Kim is currently treating as a freelance project (not in the collection of the Archives, but an incredibly beautiful object).

From left to right: Katie Etre (Carlos Museum, Emory University), Tracey Hughes (Archives Records Technician, Georgia Archives), Kim Norman (Conservator and Preservation Manager, Georgia Archives), me, Emily Farek (Conservation Intern, Carlos Museum)
